Limpopo police rearrest escapee following tip-off

The man was in custody on charges of house and business robbery as well as escaping from lawful custody in Mpumalanga.

LIMPOPO – One of four awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from Hoedspruit police holding cells on 3 November 2019, have been arrested.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says members from the Tzaneen Tracking Team (TTT) received information about the suspects of a house robbery and rape which were committed around Sekororo village under Maake policing area.

The information led them to a house in the area where they rearrested the 41-year-old escapee on Thursday, 2 January. A second person was also arrested, he added.

During the arrest the police also seized two 203 rifles, a 9mm ADP pistol and several rounds of ammunition.

Both will appear in the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court today (Monday, 6 January).
