Games to play on the road

When the holiday is over and your holiday mood dempers, the road back home can feel much longer than it should. Being stuck in a car for hours on end only adds to the frustration, unless you have fun ways to pass the time. Review came up with some interesting games for you and your family to play in the hopes of shortening the road.

• Spot the car: Try and find different car models on your trip. Dot it down on a piece of paper and at the end of the trip, the winner can win a treat.

• 20 Questions: One person in the car thinks of anything and then the other players have to use only 20 questions to figure out what it is. The winner will then be questioned next.

• Memory games One person in the car starts by saying “I am going to the moon and I am bringing…” The next player has to remember that item and add another to the list.

Another version is to only take something which starts with the letter of your name – Amy: I’m going to the moon and I’m taking an apple.

• The compliment game: Each person gets a turn to use the alphabet to say something nice about someone else in the car. “Sarah you are Amazing, Becky you are beautiful…”

• I Spy: This game is an old time favourite among old and young. One person chooses something by saying “I spy with my little eye something that starts with a ‘b’…” or “I spy with my little eye something that is green” and the passengers then have to guess what it is.

• The quiet game: This is useful when the children in the car need to calm down. Everyone needs to be quiet and the first one to speak loses.
