How the singles spend their New Year’s Eve

Review found out how single Polokwane residents spend their New Year's Eve.

POLOKWANE – New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration with friends, but so many of us have to be alone due to circumstances. How do we spend our time?
Review asked some readers what they are going to do this New Years Eve, being single.

Rita van Jaarsveld: My plans for New Year’s Eve when I am alone is to get on the roof and look at the fireworks and pray that it will have more excitement in store next year.
Rita Gadney: I am happy to be blessed with the presence of my children with me, but I would have loved to dance the new year in with a gentleman who is soft on the eye and celebrate life.
Retha Labuschagne: Even though I am single, I live life to the fullest. My family, friends and children keep me busy. I am thankful for quiet time that I have. If I am alone on New Years, I will lie on a blanket and look at the stars and thank God for all my blessings during 2019. With a glass of red wine in my hand.
Mauritz Pretorius: I’m planning to go to Hartenbos for New Years, probably going to the beach party and shoot fireworks when the new year starts to celebrate 2020. Maybe go to a party here and there but without a doubt in Hartenbos we are going to party.
Maryna Peyper: I’m going to spend New Year’s Eve with the people who are important to me, my family and friends. If I was alone I would at least have my four four-legged friends, my dogs, to keep me busy.
This year spending New Year’s Eve alone I have a few ideas. I plan to gather all the loners and have a proper South African braai with garlic bread and all. If they are busy I will spend some quality time playing computer games and make a delicious meal for myself, something along the lines of Alfredo or a soft garlic butter steak.
Another idea is a week before New Year’s Eve I will do some online shopping and buy something cool such as a mini-pizza oven and make pizzas at home or even adopt a little furry friend. They will make the New Year’s Eve extra special and then you will have a companion to take the new year on with.
Jaco van Heerden: I will just chill on a chair with a nice ice cold Castle and welcome the new year like that.
