Whip up your Christmas with this dessert alternative

Tired of the typical malva pudding, trifle and jelly and custard as a Christmas dessert? Then look no further as we have a whopping alternative which is so easy to make, even your children can make it.

POLOKWANE – Review spoke to chef Bukola Falodum who gave us a pancake with a strawberry and whip cream topping recipe.

One of the children in Chef Bukola’s class pours some pancake mixture into the pan.

Ingredients:

• 100 g plain flour.

• Two large eggs.

• 300 ml milk.

• One tablespoon sunflower or vegetable oil, plus a little extra for frying.

• Strawberries or types of berries to use as toppings.

• Various types of fruit (chopped) or canned fruit (drained)

• Whip cream.

Top the pancake with some whip cream.

Method:

• Place the flour, eggs, milk, oil and a pinch of salt into a bowl or large jug and then whisk into a smooth batter.

• You can either cook the batter straight away or let it rest for 30 mins.

• Set a medium frying pan over medium heat and carefully wipe it with some oiled kitchen paper towel so that it does not stick.

• When it starts getting hot, cook your pancakes for one minute on each side until it turns golden brownish.

• Make sure that you keep them warm in a low oven as you go along.

• Fill the pancake with your fruit and add some whip cream, then fold the pancake.

• Serve with some strawberry toppings and finish it off with some whip cream.
