Positive outlook for new Tshilidzini hospital

The new hospital will be a blessing and we will deliver better health care services, says newly appointed CEO of Tshilidzini Regional Hospital, Marubini Ndwammbi

LIMPPO – The newly appointed CEO of Tshilidzini Regional Hospital, Marubini Ndwammbi said construction of the new hospital building will start in April next year, a step forward for the hospital in preparation of National Health Insurance (NHI).

Ndwammbi said Tshilidzini Hospital was built in 1958 and some of the buildings are old and dilapidated.

“The new hospital will be a blessing and we will deliver better health care services.”

He said the current hospital has 400 beds, but with the large demand they often have to refer patients to nearby clinics.

“We are happy that the shortage of water is now a thing of the past, as the pipeline from Nandoni Dam was finally installed in our hospital,” said Ndwammbi.

She joined Thovhele Thivhulawi Makumbane, members of the hospital board and councillors last Wednesday during the hospital’s service delivery summit which was held in the recreational hall of the hospital.

Edward Nemavhola, who reported about the Primary Health Care (PHC) of the hospital said that the sub-district has 42 clinics while 14 of them acted as referrals to Tshilidzini Hospital.

Thulamela councillor Livhuwani Ligaraba said municipalities have to give their full support to hospitals for the delivery of better services like water and sanitation.

Makumbane congratulated the management of Tshilidzini for taking the lead in reporting back to the communities on their successes and failures.

The leader of one of the communities who attended the delivery summit in Tshilidzini Hospital, John Mulaudzi said they want the hospital and the Department of Health to build a clinic in the rural village of Mathule.

He said his communities used to rely on the Lwamondo Clinic, which is far, and they have written many letters to the hospital and the department.
