This list includes getting ready for the road, current toll tariffs, best travel times as well as where to fuel up.  

POLOKWANE – It is important to plan ahead when you travel long distances and Review compiled a list of important things of which you should take note of.

Ready for the road:

* Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy.
* Do not overload vehicle.
* Always have your drivers license.
* Plan your holiday route.
* Make sure that you rest before embarking on your road trip.
* Have emergency numbers ready.

On the road:

* Stick to the speed limit.
* Maintain a safe travel distance on the road.
* Do not drink and drive.
* Get enough sleep.
* Stop every two hours or 200 km.
* In case of an accident, use blue km board markers to report accidents.

* Sasol Zebetiela North (N1 highway), 41 km out of town.

* Total Petroport Capricorn plaza, 72 km out of town.

* Engen Kranskop 1stop North, 77 km out of town.

* Total Petroport Panorama East, 241 km out of town.

* Engen Grasmere 1 Stop North, 358 km out of town.

* Engen Kroonvaal 1 Stop North, 432 km out of town.

 

Class 1: Light vehicles

Class 2: Heavy vehicles with 2 axles (8-16 ton)

Class 3: Heavy vehicle with 3-4 axles (24-32 ton)

Class 4: Heavy vehicle with 5 and more axles (up to 56 ton)

According to Bakwena, the toll tariffs below are applicable from 1 March 2019 to 29 February 2020 and are inclusive of VAT. Toll tariffs are adjusted annually in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and are subject to the approval from the Minister of Transport.
