Intensified investigation after body found near Polokwane stadium

The brutality of this murder has led to an in-depth search operation for those involved.

POLOKWANE – The mutilated body of man in his 40’s was found near the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Thursday evening. The brutality of this murder has led to an intensive search operation for those involved.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says the body of the victim was reportedly discovered by passerbys who alerted the police. On arrival at around 18:45, the police found the badly mutilated body lying under a bridge along the N1 bypass near the sports complex. Some body parts were missing, Mojapelo adds.

The man was wearing grey trousers, a blue T-shirt and black shoes.

The motive for the murder is still unknown but the police have not ruled out ritual-related killing.

The police appeal to anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of the person(s) involved and to anyone who can identify the victim to contact Lt Col Boshomane at 079 894 5501.

They can also contact the 24-hour Crime stop number at 086 001 0111, the Crime line SMS at 32211 or their nearest police station.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba noted the brutality that characterised this murder and has ordered an intensive manhunt for those involved.
