D3715 Limpopo road claims yet another life

The D3715 road between Tshiozwi and Madombidzha, riddled with potholes, continues to take lives.

LIMPOPO – 33-year-old Phathutshedzo Murulane died in a head-on collision on the D3715 road last Saturday. This adds to the four deaths in road-related incidents last month.

Murulane’s vehicle collided with the vehicle of the former Vhembe District Manager, Reunben Rambado, who sustained serious injuries.He was eventually discharged from a Polokwane hospital last Tuesday.

Police Spokesperson Brig Motlafela Motjapelo related how the incident occurred.“The car of the deceased approached from the direction of Tshiozwi when it collided head-on with another vehicle. Members of the traffic police and paramedics rushed to the scene and the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.”

Fogenth Murulane, spokesperson for the family, said that they were still in shock. “It is only God who knows why it happened like this. It is painful to lose people like this,” he said. Murulane said that the death of Phathutshedzo shocked not only the family, but the community of Kutama too. “We received many messages of condolences, and it shows us that Phathutshedzo was a people’s person and accommodating to everyone, irrespective of colour, race or religion,” he said.He described his death as a big loss to the family.

Chief Progress Kutama expressed his condolences to the affected family. He added that the community members around the Kutama area were deeply touched. “The family members of the victim need our support in hard times like these and we hope accidents of this nature, which can be prevented, will never again take place on our roads. We all mourn his death,” he said. He urged members of the community to drive responsibly and obey the speed limit.
