LIMPOPO – The accused was arrested on Thursday at around 21:00 during an operation conducted by members from the Mankweng Tracing Team Unit and detectives from Sekgosese.
Information received led the team to a house at Thakgalane village and the accused was then apprehended in the home of one of their extended relatives, reads a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.
The accused will appear in Tiyani Magistrate’s Court (Hlanganani) on Monday, 9 December on a charge of murder.
The murder of Nkanyane sparked violence in the area which resulted in several houses being torched. The persons involved in these acts of arson are still being sought.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba thanked the community for providing valuable information which enabled the police to apprehend this person two days after the murder. He however condemned the actions of those who took the law into their own hands and urged them to work with the police to stamp out criminality in the area.
