POLOKWANE – The competition was hosted at Industrial Chisanyama on Thursday, 14 November. Malele, who is a stylist at M Beauty Salon in Ladanna, walked away with R5 000 and says he is elated.
“I came fully prepared into this competition and told myself that I would win. I learnt a lot from my stylist colleagues and I now know which of my techniques need improvement,” he said. The Dark and Lovely Golden Scissors Awards is a hairdressing competition in search of exceptional hairdressing talent in South Africa and provides a platform for South African hairstylists to showcase their talent and demonstrate how creative they can be with hair.
In addition, the competition wants to encourage women to be proud of their natural hair and inspire confidence in each other. According to Dark and Lovely’s Senior Product Manager, Natasha Lopes the competition is about uplifting and increasing skills among stylists.
“We expect the stylists to up their game in February and to bring their best. We have invested in them they will participate in a four day workshop.
“Dark and Lovely has always been a strong relaxer brand and we understand that the consumer really wants to embrace the curl,” said Lopes.
