Four rob elderly woman of stokvel money

The police are looking for four people who robbed an elderly woman in Seshego on Tuesday.

POLOKWANE – According to police reports, the 69-year-old victim withdrew the money which belonged to her stokvel group at a bank at the Seshego Circle Centre on the said day and then she took a taxi home. It is alleged that upon arriving at her home, two men waiting inside a grey bakkie got out of the vehicle and when she called for help, another vehicle with two occupants also approached her.

It is further alleged that they pointed a firearm at her during the incident, robbed her of the money and fled from the scene. The money amounts to thousands and the group have been saving up since the beginning of the year, says Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

The police advise residents to take safety precautions when dealing with money to avoid robberies of this nature.

It is always advisable to make electronic transfers instead of withdrawing large sums of money, Mojapelo advises.
