POLOKWANE – October ended on a very bad note For Ronelle Seitz (59), who was attacked by two pit bull terriers.

The attack on her happened on Saturday, 26 October when the two dogs turned on her. Both dogs had to be put down in an effort to save her life.

In the attack, Seitz’s scalp was torn off. She was rushed to the Pholosho Netcare Hospital where she was operated on. Here a benefactor paid for the first 36 hours of help as she is not a member of a medical aid fund.

She was discharged from hospital after two weeks and sent  home to rest and recuperate.

“We are thankful to every person who donated money for these operations. We are thankful for the money we received to pay the accounts. We are still R188 000 short which is needed for the next operation which cannot be postponed.  The doctor explained that there is an urgency to do the next operation. During this operation, they will plant skin from the shoulder over to her cheek. They will also reconstruct her nose and lift her lip.”

Riekert explains that they plan to host dances to raise money, but it is not a good time of the year to host these type of events. “Everyone already has dances and other functions or are now going on holiday. We will only be able to get artists in the new year to raise money. The doctor did say he will speak to the hospital panel to do the operation and let us pay as we get the money in, but he cannot guarantee anything.”

The last operation would be to fix the back of her head and that will only take place next year.

[AFR LISTEN] Seitz also sent a message of thanks to everyone helping her.
