The MEC for education in Limpopo, Polly Boshielo has thanked the stakeholders who made sure the examinations ran smoothly.

LIMPOPO – The National Senior Certificate examinations has run “incident and irregularity free” according to a statement released by the MEC for education in Limpopo, Polly Boshielo.

In the said statement, Boshielo thanked everyone who helped the department to ensure that the examinations ran smoothly. This year’s examinations drew to a close yesterday with the writing of agricultural technology and design studies.

Boshielo said it is because of the hardworking officials, disciplined learners, dedicated educators and committed school governing bodies that the department were able to manage another credible examination.

She added that it is important to note the role traditional and religious leaders, social partners, the community as well as the parents played to ensure this success. Boshielo applauded the support they received from the police, who ensured that examinations could run fluently and without interruptions.

“We need to put the interest of our learners first by working together to protect their education. We thank everyone who helped our call in this regard. Education remains everyone’s responsibility,” she said.

The marking of the scripts will commence tomorrow, 30 November and be concluded on 11 December at the 21 marking centres across the province.

Boshielo advised learners not to engage in parties during this period known as “pens down” and said that learners should rather plan their futures. She asked parents to advise their children against attending these parties and know where their children are at all times.

“We want the results to find every learner in a good state of mind and health,” concluded Boshielo.
