Urban Traffic Control (UTC) signals to be installed tomorrow

Traffic officials will be stationed at these intersections to control the traffic and to ensure the least possible disruptions.

POLOKWANE – Urban Traffic Control (UTC) signals as part of the Leeto la Polokwane system wil be installed by the Polokwane Municipality tomorrow (Friday, 29 November). Leeto la Polokwane is the name of the Polokwane Integrated Rapid Public Transport System (IRPTS), which was unveiled in August 2016.

The control signals will be installed down Nelson Mandela Drive and these upgraded signals will accommodate an additional phase (bus signals) which will only give right of way to Leeto la Polokwane buses.

The municipality said that the installations will start at 08:00 and carry on until 17:00. They added that existing traffic signals will be switched off while the installation process is on the go.

Affected intersections:
• Nelson Mandela Drive and Madiba Park Street
• Nelson Mandela Drive and Maropeng
• Nelson Mandela Drive and Zebediela Street

Traffic officials will be stationed at these intersections to control the traffic and to ensure the least possible disruptions.

The municipality urged motorists to adhere to the traffic officers.
