‘Smart school’s’ ICT4Ed programme

Poguti-Maribulla Primary School at Ngwanalaka, Ga-Mothiba is a school which has learners and educators with many talents and that is one of the reasons why most people refer to it as a 'smart school.'

LIMPOPO – One of the teachers and also the information and communications technology (ICT) chairperson, Ishmael Sello told Review that the smartness does not only lay with the learners but also the committed and competent educators.

Ishmael worked hard in bringing the idea of introducing the programme of computer literacy for the educators, knows as ICT For Educators (ICT4Ed) from Limpopo CoLab from the University of Limpopo.

“The programme started the first week after the school’s June recess and ended in October. To be appreciated, the school handed over the Limpopo CoLab group a certificate of appreciation. It was indeed a learning curve throughout this programme. The teachers can now proudly type using various Microsoft applications and search the information on the internet without assistance,” Ishmael added.

He added that the school plans to start teaching using the 21st century approaches and introduce teaching skills in a practical way in the classroom. A special thanks went to the Limpopo CoLab group led by Dr. Farivar Rahimi and Andrew Scholtz.
