LIMPOPO – The police at Botlokwa in the Mankweng Cluster are investigating a case of murder after a 21-year old college student was attacked by an unknown man and stabbed to death. It is alleged that the deceased was asleep in her rented room at Ga-Joel section in Mokomene when the attacker gained entry through the window. He attacked her, stabbed her several times and fled from the scene. The deceased’s frantic screams were heard by a neighbor who called the police. On arrival, her body was found in a pool of blood with several stab wounds. The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage, said Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

Thapelo Bopape says the students of Capricorn TVET have gathered at the Botlokwa Police Station to engage on the increasing number of rapes in the area. Bopape says that multiple cases of rape has been opened at the station with regards to students at the college but there have been no breakthroughs with these cases. Bopape adds that the police station has been blocked off and none of the officers are available to answer the questions of the students. He says that it is frustrating because they are not getting answers.

Students gather outside the police station.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo says it is deeply saddened by the murder of Precious Ramabulana. The DA sends its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and fellow students and Risham Maharaj, DA Political Head for Molemole, says the DA sends prayers and thoughts to the family during this difficult period of mourning. “The murder took place as we today enter 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).” He says the senseless killing continues to highlight the vulnerability and plight of women and girls in our rural communities and it is clear that our government is failing to keep them safe. “The DA will visit the family in Nzhelele this week to convey our condolences to support the family.”
