[VIDEO] Jane Furse businesses robbed, three arrested in separate incidents

Two of the arrested people were involved in an ATM bombing at a garage in the area and the third robbed a local business and grinded open the safe.

LIMPOPO – The ongoing Festive Season operations continues to bear fruit with the latest arrest of a man for the robbery of a business in the Jane Furse area earlier this week.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Matloafela Mojapelo says the accused was arrested at Tshehlwaneng village in Sekhukhune area on Wednesday, 20 November for a robbery he committed the day before. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect broke into a business property, grinded open a safe and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

During his arrest, the police seized one unlicensed 9mm pistol with a magazine and 14 rounds of ammunition as well as an angle grinder and a suspected stolen vehicle.

In a separate incident the police also manged to arrest two people involved in an ATM bombing at a garage in the area on 31 October. The accused includes a 32-year-old security officer and a 47-year-old mine employee. Dye-stained cash was found in their possession during the arrest, said Mojapelo.

The three men will appear before the local magistrate’s courts soon. More arrests are expected as the operation continues, Mojapelo concluded.
