Nine victims of R531 head-on collision identified

The head-on collision happened on the the R531 road towards Swadini on Saturday afternoon.

LIMPOPO – One woman and eight men who were were killed in a head-on collision over the weekend have been identified.

The head-on collision happened on the the R531 road towards Swadini on Saturday afternoon. In an earlier report Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said eight people were instantly killed and two were transported to hospital for treatment, of which one later succumbed to injuries.

The deceased have been positively identified as Constance Makhubele (46) from Arthurcity village Acornhoek, Tumisho Maebe (28) from Vuyelani village Acornhoek, Moses Ngwako Kgohloane (23) from The Oaks village outside Hoedspruit, Magagula Mandla (31) from Dantjie village Pienaar Nelspruit, Prudence Mahowa (23) from Green Valley Acornhoek, Lesley Thete (30) from Green Valley Acornhoek, Release Sandile Mathebula (23) from Acornhoek, Anthel Mathebula (24) from Chavelagaza Acornhoek and Samuel Manyama (32) from Lenyenye.

Members of the Endangered Species unit were summoned to the scene after buckets of snake sin, dried star fish, crabs and other marine animals were found in one of the vehicles.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are still underway.
