New station manager for Capricorn FM

Limpopo's hottest frequency, Capricorn FM bids farewell to Rofhiwa 'Tholi B' Bologo and welcomes radio veteran, James Shikwambana as a station manager.

POLOKWANE – Shikwambana takes over from Bologo, who ends a three year term at the station but does not move too far away. Bologo will stay within the MSG Group to head the creative team in charge of the radio stations under the group from POWER House. A well-known name in the media industry, Shikwambana has a postgraduate diploma in management from Regent Business School and is currently a candidate for an MBA with the same institution.

His career on radio has seen him hold positions as presenter, producer, sport commentator, sport presenter and sport journalist from 1995 to 2008. He took on the role of Marketing Manager at Munghana Lonene between 2008 and 2009 and moved to Radio 2000 in 2010, where he was the station manager until 2012.

He then returned to Munghana Lonene FM as Station Manager from 2012 to 2016 and was thereafter appointed General Manager of SABC Western Cape from 2016 to 2019. He boasts 22 awards as a sport presenter and commentator and is the founder of the Xitsonga Music Awards.

On his departure and handing over to Shikwambana, Bologo said it has been an amazing three years filled with growth and fulfilment. “I did exactly what I needed to do in my tenure, as agreed by the board and I have no doubt that Shikwambana will play his assigned part very well. We are different and that is exactly what an ever-changing industry needs. I look forward to the growth of the whole group with this new structure,” said Bologo.

On his acceptance, Shikwambana states that it is an exciting time to return to the province to steer such an acclaimed brand. “I thank Bologo and wish him the best in his new position. We will continue to work closely together. Radio is home for me, it has been an integral part of my career and my move is just the beginning of good radio getting better. Let us get to work,” said Shikwambana.
