LIMPOPO – The incident happened in Botlokwa Eis Leven on 14 October in 2017. Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlefela Mojapelo said in a statement on Monday that on the day in question, the accused who shares a father with the victim, took the young girl to another house which belonged to the family and raped her. When the mother of the child came to the house to look for the child, the accused claimed he did not know her whereabouts. While they were still talking, the young victim showed up naked and the accused fought with the mother, overpowered her and fled the house.

The police were notified and the investigation was assigned to Sgt Abel Sello Moreroa from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit in Polokwane who traced the accused. He was arrested and remained in custody until he was found guilty of rape and sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday, 7 November.
