Chief and community band together to help clean Moletsi

Leading by example was what Moletsi chief, Kgoshi Kgabo Moloto III, did when he took part in a cleaning campaign and congratulatory session on Thursday.

POLOKWANE – The campaign was initiated by Moletjie Thusong Service Centre and the centre’s acting manager, Matsiri Mokgokong said they have realised that most of the areas in Moletsi turn into dumping sites.

“We arranged with the residents, councillors and Moletjie Thusong Service Sector to clean the areas. We have managed to clean the areas with the support from the Polokwane Municipality Waste Management and Environment Strategic Business Unit. They provided us with refuse bags, gloves, dust masks and trucks. We are satisfied that the areas look better than they were before. We encourage people from Moletsi to not dump everywhere,” said Mokgokong.

Moloto made a humble plea to the Polokwane Municipality to assist with skip bins where people will be able to dump. He said he was awarded as the first runner-up for outstanding manager for Moletjie Thusong Service Centre.

“We are happy to receive the award. We started this project in 2014 and were launched in 2016,” he said.

Moloto III’s spokesperson, Matomo Moloto said the reason why the campaign has been organised was to remind the people around Moletsi that cleanliness is next to godliness.

“A clean environment guarantees a healthy lifestyle. We as leaders encourage the community to keep the environment clean.

“This means everyone has the responsibility to make sure that Moletsi is as clean as it was before. Information must be given to everyone in all the wards in Moletsi,” said Moloto.
