Teen killed after axe-wielding man attacks 7 children

The MEC for Social Development, Nkakareng Rakgoale expressed concern over ‘continued killing of children’

LIMPOPO – A 14-year-old boy who was attacked by an axe-wielding man in Nghezimani village outside Malamulele, Limpopo has died, reports the Department of Social Development.

According to Spokesperson, Witness Tiva, the man attacked seven children in their homestead with an axe, resulting in the teen’s death on Saturday, 26 October.

The MEC, Nkakareng Rakgoale and the Mayor of the Collins Chabane Municipality, Moses Maluleke visited the bereaved family and urged the community to work together in fighting domestic violence.

“As a department, we are very worried about the continued killings of our children. We are calling on communities experiencing difficulties in their lives to approach our social workers for assistance. I want to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the bereaved family and also wish a speedy recovery to the other six victims who got injured. We are once again calling on the justice system to deal harshly with the perpetrators of violence against our vulnerable women and children,” she said.

Tiva confirmed to Review that an arrest has been made.
