POLOKWANE – According to a statement issued by the municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala, LNW says the incident “resulted into decreased abstraction of raw water from 700 litres per second (l/s) to 400 l/s”, and due to low levels of command reservoirs, Pump station 3 could only be started at around 04:30.
LNW further indicates that the “challenge” has been attended to and the command reservoirs are being filled so that water supply can be restored to the Polokwane municipal area, the statement reads.
Selala adds that the supply from Olifantspoort Plant had not yet reached Polokwane and the Seshego and Potgieter reservoirs levels are still low.
The municipality will continue to deploy water tankers to the affected areas,” he concludes.
