Donald is ready to fill the gap by helping small businesses comply with Sars

Donald Kaletsane is currently the owner of Grind Audits, a company aimed at helping small businesses with their tax clearance certificates, preparing payslips, drafting documents (employment contacts and lease agreements), and general audits.

POLOKWANE – Donald Kaletsane says he believes there is a gap between small businesses and the South African Revenue Services, and he is ready to fill this gap. Donald suspended his clerkship in November 2018 to pursue a career in helping small business to comply with all the Sars rules and regulations.

Donald comes from Nnyakelani village in Botlokwa where he completed his Gr 12 at Fedile High School before furthering his studies at Unisa. Donald studied LLB. “There is an abundance of attorneys in the industry, I thought I had a better chance of studying something else.”

Donald says that it took him a while to actually decide on leaving law. “I would constantly think about it and wonder if it was really worth it.” He says that the thought of disappointing his parents would also always weigh heavily on him. He says that he was afraid that his family would not understand and that they would assume that he just wants to throw his life away. “My mother worked very hard to ensure that I went to school and had everything I needed, I did not want to fail her.” He says he does not regret the decision.

“I honestly think I made the right decision, especially considering how I never really wanted to study law.”

Donald says the decision to study law was mainly motivated by what other people said. He says people have respect for lawyers and he wished to have that. “Also people would tell me I talk too much, I should be a lawyer.”

Donald is currently the owner of Grind Audits, a company aimed at helping small businesses with their tax clearance certificates, preparing payslips, drafting documents (employment contacts and lease agreements), and general audits.

He says being his own boss is more rewarding than working for someone else. “As a start-up, you do not make a lot of money but the thought that you generate your own income makes it worth it.” Donald currently employs two employees to help him in the business and says he hopes that the company will grow and he will be able to create more employment opportunities.
