Shannon Page from Tom Naudé
I finished in time and the paper was not that hard. I think the time given was enough.
POLOKWANE – It is crunch time for Gr 12’s in South Africa as their (hopefully) examination is upon them. These learners wrote English home language paper one on Wednesday, 23 October and Review asked a few learners the following question: “Do you think the amount of time given is enough or should there be more time to complete the paper?”
Kgabo Sebatjane from Taxila High School
I think there is more than enough time for everything.
Emanuel Moraswi from Flora Park Comprehensive.
I think we were given enough time. I was ready for the exam in the first place, so whatever time they give us is a fair time for those who have prepared themselves enough in their studies. So with English paper one, yes we were given enough time to write.
Carol du Bruin from Tom Naudé.
I think we had enough time to finish the paper. I still had time left before we could leave.
Lerato Mogane from Flora Park Comprehensive.
I think I was given enough time, because I write very slow because I want to see exactly what I write in the paper and make sure it’s correct. I also love to check my work thoroughly. English paper one included general knowledge questions and about what we’ve learnt, so I think two hours was enough time for me.
Kamogelo Mapaesa from Westenburg Secondary School.
I think it is too much time, it should be reduced.
Dineo Boshomane from Westenburg Secondary School.
I think it is enough because some learners write slower than others.
Naledy Selepe from Flora Park Comprehensive
I think overall I was given ample time to write the English paper. When it comes to enough time you’re given, it depends on how much you have studied. Because if you did not study, then you’ll find it very hard to write the paper.
Jessica Maboa from Taxila Secondary School.
The time was enough for this paper but there are other papers that do not have enough time allocation.
Phuthego Mahlatji from Tom Naudé
I did not manage to finish my paper, therefore I think we need more time to complete it.
Lunnick Ramoretli from Westenburg Secondary School.
I think the time is enough to allow me to go through the paper once I am done.
Pheldry Rangata from Taxila Secondary School.
I think the time is more than enough because I always finish beforehand.
Jason Marais from Tom Naudé
There was more than enough time to complete the paper. I even had time to daydream.
Kabelo Komape from Tom Naudé
Even though I did finish my paper, I feel we needed more time. I would have liked to analyse the questions better.
Elizabeth Mafamba from Northern Academy.
There was not enough time to finish the paper, I needed at least two and a half hours.
Luju Mahlangu from Northern Academy.
The paper was okay and the two hours was enough.
Kwena Lekoloane from Northern Academy.
Two hours was enough, the paper was not difficult at all.
Koketso Kekana from Capricorn High School.
I wish we had more time, maybe an increase of 30 minutes. If given the opportunity, I would use that time for comprehension and just tying everything together properly.
Madidmalo Mojela from Capricorn High School.
I feel that the time is more than enough, if you are prepared. You just have to plan your time properly to cover everything. It is also possible to finish the paper before the stipulated two hours.
Nape Maphoto from Capricorn High School.
The time provided to us is perfect for an English exam. You will have enough time if you use it wisely.
