City’s reservoirs low: residents urged to collect water at the Dalmada, Seshego treatment plants

Reservoir levels in the city remain under strain despite the fact that the Olifantspoort plant started pumping water to the city on Sunday evening.

POLOKWANE –  This after pumping on Sunday was stopped for several hours to allow technicians to replace a faulty ‘rotork’.

In a statement, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality, Thipa Selala says as from this morning, water readings indicate that Olifantspoort plant is pumping 260 litres per second (l/s) while Ebenezer Scheme is pumping 107l/s to the city.

Reservoir levels are still low with Ext 34 Ivydale at 70%, Potgieter at 0%, 50MI Krugersburg at 9%, 30MI Dome Krugersburg at 11%, 30MI Flat Krugersburg at 15% and Seshego at 0%.

“Water tankers are deployed to areas not receiving supply, however residents, who are able to, are encouraged to source water straight from the Dalmada and Seshego Treatment Plants,” says Selala.

Normal water supply will be restored once reservoir levels improve.
