Limpopo’s Executive Council (Exco) gave the thumbs up for MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Basikopo Makamu to establish a multi-disciplinary task team to prepare a diagnostic report dealing with service delivery and financial challenges confronting Mogalakwena Municipality that may be used to inform appropriate interventions.
The Exco further directed the Provincial Treasury to urgently commission a forensic investigation into various matters pertaining to allegations of fraud, misconduct and financial mismanagement in the municipality.
Earlier today (Thursday) MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Dickson Masemola chaired the media briefing at Mowaneng in the city following Wednesday’s Exco meeting and said that the new dawn is in motion and that the Provincial Government will restore the integrity of the system.
Masemola also alluded to the Department of Health’s turnaround strategy, recognition of a traditional leader, the ongoing process of stabilisation of Collins Chabane Municipality, foster care evaluation, the Presidential launch of the District Coordinated Development Model for Waterberg District and the upcoming Exco Budget Lekgotla on 13 November.
