POLOKWANE – WOF Soekmekaar firefighters were dispatched on Monday, 7 October 2019 to the Voorspoed plantation under the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) to suppress a raging fire that was destroying the plantation.
Today (Wednesday, 9 October), Shoprite handed over much needed energy supplies to WOF. These supplies included pies, chocolates and Powerade to keep them from experiencing dehydration in the extreme conditions.

Dorothy Nkoana, Back Admin Manager at Shoprite thanked the firefighters for their effort, while Tsepo Malatji, WOF Limpopo General Manager expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the unexpected, but welcomed gesture.

Since the beginning of the 2019 winter fire season, WOF has responded to 88 fires with 5 000 ha lost.
