Local school blessed with mobile libraries

Two mobile libraries were donated to Poguti-Maribulla Primary School thanks to Mancosa and school governing body member, Sekitla Mametja.

LIMPOPO – The school also officially launched the ICT4 educators on Thursday, 3 October in Nobody Ga-Mothiba outside Polokwane.

Ra’ees Ebrahim from Mancosa explained that the schools they donate to are selected based on need and that they received help from the Department of Education, to select which schools were worthy.

“This is the first time we offer this programme in Limpopo but it will be a continuous project,” he added.

The Principal, Moses Kgopa, said the libraries will benefit them since, because they are mobile, the libraries can easily be moved closer to the classroom.

“The school has been blessed. We are grateful to Mancosa for the mobile libraries. Our learners ask for books from teachers from time-to-time as they want to read or do their assignments, so this donation will be really helpful,” Kgopa commented.

He added that teachers from the school received training in information and communication technology (ICT) from the ICT4 educators programme offered by the University of Limpopo.

The teachers were taught how to use technology to prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“The University of Limpopo came to our school with a programme to train our teachers to be better equipped for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This will help our learners as their teachers will be better equipped to help them with assignments when there is a need for the use of the internet,” he explained.

James Lentsoane from the E-learning Department at UNILIM explained that this project is the first of its kind to take place in the Mankweng Circuit.

He shared that the circuit manager gave them a mandate to train all teachers.

“We will start with the training of other teachers in the Mankweng Circuit this month still.”

He said they would first start with the training of 25 teachers.
