The abundance of local businesses catering for all needs in this regard, makes shopping a worthwhile experience.
DIY includes decorating, building and making repairs at home by oneself rather than employing a professional or other service provider who does not necessarily delivers the end product with that special touch making you proud of a job well done and also learning a lot in the process.
The process of engaging in a DIY-project can be triggered by various motivations and includes economic benefits, lack of product availability and quality, need for customisation and identity enhancement and is characterised by craftsmanship, empowerment and sometimes also uniqueness and can also be just a matter of cost saving.
Beyond magazines and television, the scope of home improvement DIY continues to grow online where most mainstream outlets now have extensive DIY-focused informational websites that are often extensions of their magazine or television brand. The growth of independent online DIY resources is also spiking and the number of homeowners who blog about their experiences continues to grow, along with DIY websites from smaller organisations and chat groups.
