POLOKWANE – The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers says he is impressed by the police’s swift response to an armed robbery in Lebowakgomo this morning, 2 October 2019, which resulted in the arrest of two men and the death of two others.
Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says police were performing daily patrol duties when they received a tip-off about a black Mercedes Benz with four perpetrators who had committed a robbery in the area.

“Police spotted the vehicle in Moletlane village and a car chase ensued till the vehicle was cornered off in Ntamatise village and a shootout began. Police, who retaliated, shot and killed two of the men and the other two were arrested. Unlicensed firearms and live ammunition were recovered,” Ngoepe explained.
The identity of the two deceased is unknown and the other two men will soon appear before the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition charges.
