POLOKWANE – Jabez Christian Academy Gr 8 learner, Thato Moyo (14), is brains with the beauty.
She has competed in local pageants and also travelled to Paris, France in June, to showcase her talent in the Miss Paris International 2019 pageant, where she was crowned Miss Supreme Queen.
Managed under Limpopo Beauty Modelling Academy, Thato says she feels honoured to have had the opportunity to represent her agency, country and school. The modelling academy’s director, Katryn Barwise Celliers and her mother, Dorothy, travelled to Paris to support her.
“We had the most amazing time and I was such a proud mom when I watched her on stage. It was such a magical moment to see my daughter, who I believe is the chosen one, grace the stage of Paris with her beautiful smile. I think she adopted her passion for pageants and the love she has for people from my late younger sister, Eugina Ntuli, who used to do volunteer work. She loved working with and helping people, so Thato definitely gets her kind heart from her,” Dorothy added.
Thato told Review that she appreciates her dad, Timothy, for sponsoring her trip. “My dream trip was not possible if it had not been for my dad. He is one in a million and I thank both my parents for always being there for whenever I need their support,” she said. Thato says she lost four pageants in a row when she started in 2017. “This did not stop me from excelling in winning most pageants that I entered for. I decided to keep on entering and doing my best in them, and today I can say I am proud of my achievements thus far,” she said.
Thato has previously won Miss Queen of the North 2019, Top Model SA flawless finalist 2019 and Miss Diamond SA Teen 2018 Heart of Gold, to name a few.
Growing up, Thato attended Gr R at Elica Primary School, proceeded to MEPS until Gr 7 and then started at Jabez.
“I am going to work hard in my academics and when I am done with matric, I would like to study outside of the province, either in Cape Town or out of the country,” she added.
