Sport, Arts and Culture MEC urges Limpopo residents to support local designers

"When you attend functions, events or even for daily designer clothes, purchase from our local designers. We should support local designers for their hard work," she said.

POLOKWANE – The MEC for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Thandi Moraka, who wore a local designer’s design, urged people at the Indigenous Games Festival 2019 (IGF2019) Fashion Show to support local designers as much as possible.

“When you attend functions, events or even for daily designer clothes, purchase from our local designers. We should support local designers for their hard work,” she said.

The IGF2019 African Fashion Show was recently hosted where fashion designers showcased their unique, creative styles and designs. Designs by Tshepo Moatshe, Dina Marumo, Tshepo Sambo, Thomas Mantsho, Thandi Semelane, Thabiso Phokane, Wilhemina Ratsoma and Frank Ramatsetse, were judged and only three designers walked away with prizes.

The IGF2019 covered a lot of activities and events such as the indigenous games, street carnivals, fashion shows, African dance performances, crafts markets, African food villages, a beer garden and picnics at the Seshego Stadium.
