During a homecoming celebration at the Miracle Theatre in Moutse, Groblersdal on Monday, 23 September, the choir were given the cheque by MEC, Thandi Moraka.

The million rand will be divided with half to split between the members of the choir and the other half to develop their music programme.

Speaking at the event, Moraka said the choir had done the province proud and in her eyes, they are winners. “They are the ambassadors of Africa which is why as the department we are supporting them with an amount of R1 Million,” she said.

The choir made the country proud when they advanced to the finals of America’s Got Talent, but their journey came to an end last week after American, Kodi Lee, who is blind and autistic, was crowned the season 14 winner.
