The Mankweng Regional Court sentenced five men, aged between  24 and 26, to life imprisonment terms each for the murder of a fellow inmate inside the Seshego Police Station holding cells on 21 June 2017. The deceased was arrested for domestic violence at the time, and was detained in the same holding cells with the five accused when they killed him.

Ngoepe said Detective Sergeant Hlahla was tasked to investigate the incident and successfully managed to secure life imprisonment terms for this ‘barbaric act’.

The Giyani Regional Court on the 18 September,  sentenced Soyaphi Thomas Kubayi  (49), to an effective 30 years’ imprisonment, after he was found guilty on two counts of house robbery committed in 2012.
