LIMPOPO – A 35-year-old man, arrested for the rape and murder of 11-year-old, Thandi Mampane, was denied bail in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court earlier today, 16 September.
The man allegedly raped and murdered Mampane while on parole for escaping lawful custody, said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe. “He had served a year of his three year sentence,” he said.
Mampane’s body was found in bushes near Ga-Marishane village in the Nebo Policing area outside Groblesdal on Friday, 6 September, after she went missing the day before.

“He is facing charges of abduction, rape and murder and his case was postponed to 1 October 2019, where he will make a formal bail application. Police investigations continue,” Ngoepe’s statement concluded.
