Duo arrested in Ga-Mphahlele with stolen chrome

Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala said police in Limpopo's commitment to eradicating illegal mining activities, especially in Burgersfort and Polokwane should be commended.

POLOKWANE – A tip-off by the community about a suspicious truck loaded with chrome led to the arrest of two people at a mine in Ga-Mphahlele, near Lebowakgomo.

The men, aged 23 and 31, were caught red-handed with stolen chrome and arrested on Friday, 6 September by the provincial organised crime unit.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the truck with a load of chrome was seized during the arrest and the men will appear before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court.
