#MokopaneShutdown: Shop’s window smashed

A business in Schoeman Street was damaged after the police once again used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.

MOKPANE – Protesters were informed by police this morning that the shutdown march could not go ahead. Even though Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Maj Genl Jan Scheepers addressed the organisers and an agreement was reached that the march could continue as long as the crowd remains peaceful, the Mokopane Station Commander also had to give permission.

The group decided to march without permission and the police once again used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. During the incident a business was targeted and the business’ front window was smashed.

Stones, tree branches and burning tyres were used to block the roads.

This is a developing story.
