A 26-year-old suspect, out on bail for previous rape cases and possibly linked to several other rape and murder cases in Seshego and Mankweng, was arrested by Police on the weekend.
The body of a 21-year-old woman which was found in an abandoned shack in Seshego early August called for high-level intervention which resulted in a joint intelligence-driven operation established by Seshego Cluster Commander Sam Mokgonyana.
The team worked around the clock until the suspect was cornered and nabbed in a rented room in Seshego on Friday.
According to Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe a cell phone allegedly belonging to the 21-year-old victim was found in his possession during the arrest.
Preliminary investigations showed the suspect to allegedly have committed a similar offence in Mankweng where a woman was raped and killed in 2014.
Further investigations also revealed that the suspect was out on bail for other pending rape cases committed in Seshego, according to Ngoepe.
He will appear in different courts in due course.
