Mitchell House hosted its first workshop for school administration staff under the theme ‘Being part of the whole’ on Saturday with more than 80 delegates from different schools over the Province attending.
Former Chairperson of Mitchell House Board of Directors and Gauteng Department of Tourism Chief Director for Enterprise Development and Transformation, Maylene Broderick addressed delegates and alluded to everyone’s role in a team. She highlighted the characteristics of an effective team and said that team members should be united in a sense of purpose, believe that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, should work together to achieve a common goal, play by the rules and be accountable. She referred to those who wait, opposed to those who do and warned against too many discussions, debates and brain storming sessions resulting in no action following.
A presentation on Finance for Non-financial Managers was made by Max Mackenzie, followed by motivational speaker Lefa Mallane and Sumayya Cachalia who also took to the podium to complete the programme.
