Lebogang is the king of design

Young fashion designer, Lebogang Madibana, believes respect is gained by how one dresses.

LIMPOPO – The 24-year-old from Moletjie, outside Polokwane, is the founder of Kings Wear Clothing which makes suits for both men and women.

Madibana told CV that growing-up, he dreamed of becoming a well-known fashion designer.

“I always put a lot of effort into my work, to ensure that I produce the best products,” said Madibana.

He feels that people should stop with the stigma that sewing is only for women.

“My designs are affordable for everyone. I decided to start my own brand in 2015 and it has been successful because of my love for art,” he added.

Madibana said he started receiving several orders in Polokwane and surrounding areas.

“The support encouraged me to not give up on my dream,” said Madibana.

Madibana said he was inspired by the Xhosa fashion designer, Laduma Ngxokolo.

“After seeing his success, I started to do more research on fashion as I had no idea how to start,” he added.

The lack of material and financial support did not stop him from achieving what he loves.

“Art was my calling from my childhood days. Coming from rural villages was a huge obstacle towards my dreams, as I used to get discouraged to pursue a career in arts,” he said.

He currently studies a degree in development planning and management at the University of Limpopo.

“Social media has played a crucial role in advertising my products and has changed my life,” he said.

Madibana currently employs two young people and hopes to create more job opportunities for youth.

“I believe by having enough support and material, I will see my business succeed,” said Madibana.
