City and Westenburg pools open for the swimming season

The Nirvana and Seshego pools will not open at the start of the swimming season, but the municipality is working tirelessly to ensure that they will open at the earliest time possible.

POLOKWANE – Cool off, have fun and stay fit at the city or Westenburg municipal swimming pools this swimming season.

According to a statement issued by the Polokwane Municipality the swimming season is on track with the re-opening of the city and Westenburg’s pools on Sunday, 1 September and the new developments taking place at the Seshego and Nirvana pools.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says measures have been put in place to manage access and parking at the city’s pool and that the Westenburg pool has undergone refurbishment. “The plant room is now equipped with new pumps and filtration systems. Patrons will now be welcomed by a deep blue pool,” he says.

He adds that the Nirvana and Seshego pools will not open at the start of the swimming season, but the municipality is working tirelessly to ensure that they will open at the earliest time possible.

He explains that the Seshego pool is expected to be ready by mid-September and the Nirvana pool by the end of the month. “The Seshego pool is undergoing minor refurbishments which includes the installation of marblelite and the replacement of broken tiles and at the Nirvana pool, the plant room is being refurbished and the main pool is being sealed.”

Swimming pool hours and tariffs:

Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 – 17:00,

Sunday 14:00 – 17:00.

Tariffs range from R14.60 per person daily and R350.50 for a season ticket, which covers the period from 1 September to 30 April next year.

“As much as we want our communites to have a great time at the pools, we urge parents and caregivers to ensure that their children are safe at all times and all users to abide by the safety rules,” he adds.
