POLOKWANE – Coca-Cola, in partnership with the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA) launched this year’s edition of the COPA Coca-Cola u/15 school’s tournament at Northern Academy Primary School on Friday, 9 August.
Team coach Hendrich Mukwevho told Review that the COPA Coca-Cola not only gives the young boys an opportunity to achieve their dreams, but it’s also a phenomenal way to inject self-confidence and discipline and pride in the young players.
The u/15’s competed against Waterberg, Sekhukhune, Mopani and Vhembe District Municipality school soccer teams, and Northern Academy won all four games against them:
• Solomon Mahlangu High School, Waterberg, 3 – 1
• Mohlarutse High School, Sekhukhune, 6 – 1
• Mthume Secondary School, Mopane, 1 – 0
• Benny’s Sport Academy, Vhembe, 2 – 1
As the provincial winners, the team will represent Limpopo in Durban, in the COPA Coca-Cola u/15 National Tournament finals, in September.
“The school is very proud of the boys’ hard work and dedication. And as their coach, I’m truly proud of them as they have worked really hard, and it has paid off indeed. We know they will make our province proud,” Hendrick said.
