Car chase in Dennilton leads to arrest of wanted man

A 34-year-old man was arrested near Matshiding village; 3 accomplices manage to flee

LIMPOPO – Police in Dennilton outside Groblersdal arrested a wanted suspect during a routine patrol.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says police were conducting routine crime prevention duties when they received information regarding a white bakkie with four armed men who had committed an armed robbery at a supermarket in Leewfontein. They followed up and a car chase ensued when the men noticed the police were following them.

“The suspects shot at police, who retaliated and a 34-year-old man was arrested near Matshiding village. His accomplices, who are still at large, managed to flee with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Ngoepe said.

The suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with no rounds and is still being profiled by police. “We believe the suspect may be linked to similar cases in the area and surrounding areas,” Ngoepe concluded.

A manhunt for the remaining suspects is underway and anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the three suspects may contact the crime stop number 0860010111 or the nearest police station.
