BREAKING: Patient shoots nurse, turns gun on himself at Pietersburg Provincial Hospital

According to the MEC, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, the patient had arrived with planned patient transport from another hospital for renal dialysis, when the incident happened.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Department of Health has confirmed that a patient at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital shot a nurse before turning the gun on himself on Friday evening.

The nurse survived the shooting, the Health MEC confirmed.

According to the MEC, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, the patient had arrived with planned patient transport from another hospital for renal dialysis, when the incident happened.

Ramathuba says the nurse was in the bathroom in the renal unit at the time of the shooting when the patient, who had been going to the hospital three times a week and was known to the doctors, opened fire. The patient died at the scene.
