Kosmos Angels to deliver boxes of hope, but they need your help

Hannelie Berry Nieuwenhuys is a mother, who walked a path with a drug addict, and to reach out to others in need, she started a shoe-box project with Kosmos Angels.

POLOKWANE – Having walked a path with a drug addict, Hannelie decided not to sit back and feel sorry for herself, but rather to reach out and help other parents in similar situations.
She created the Facebook page, Dagboek Van ‘n Ouer, where she provided support to families of drug addicts.

As part of reaching out to those in need, Hannelie and her team decided to launch a shoebox project for people on the street to benefit from.

“If you do not have a shoebox, you can also put it in a bucket. You can either buy a raffle ticket for R50 and stand a chance of winning a John Varvatos overnight bag worth R600 or you can pack a box.”

The project is run under the non-profit organisation, Kosmos Angels and is locally run by Louise van Rooyen.

Guidelines for the 2019 shoebox/bucket project:
• Small Croxley book and pen
• A toothbrush and toothpaste
• Bar of soap
• Washcloth
• Shampoo
• Body cream
• Vaseline (small, plastic container).
• Lip-Ice or Zambuk (not the can)
• Roll-On (not spray cans)
• A hat.
• A small pack of tissues
• Water in a reusable bottle
• Non-perishables such as Cup-a-Soup, biscuits or sweets etc.
• Plastic, disposable rain ponchos available at Chinese stores.
• Anything special that you feel in your heart you want to give.

Hannelie advised those that want to assist to write a small note in the book they give as well as a contact number in case the recipient wants to ask for help.

“If you do not want to put your own number, feel free to put mine. It is 072 569 0393. The draw of the raffle tickets will take place on 1 December, so there is lots of time for everyone to buy tickets.”
