Local female lawyers acknowledged at WOZA Awards

Female lawyers in the province were awarded and their various contributions in the legal profession recognised, during the first WOZA Women in Law Awards.

POLOKWANE – The awards were held at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton on Saturday, 3 August and women in law, from all over South Africa, attended this prestigious event to recognise female excellence in the law industry. The South African Women Lawyers Association (SAWLA) Limpopo scooped awards in four of the six categories in which they were nominated. SAWLA Limpopo’s Chairperson and Legal Aid SA Executive, Mpho Kgabi addressed the attendees at the ceremony and explained that the legal field is one of the professions that are still very male dominated. “With that being said, it is extremely fulfilling to be among so many successful women who have achieved so much in law,” she said.

The award winners were as follows:

Mpho Mabidi, founder of MB Attorneys based in Thohoyandou, current SAWLA Limpopo Treasurer and BLA Limpopo Deputy Chairperson, is the winner in the labour law category.
