Sun International’s Meropa Hotel celebrates its second birthday in August and despite still being in its infant shoes has firmly entrenched its position as one of the best hotels in Polokwane.
As part of the celebrations the hotel will be giving away four nights’ accommodation during the course of the month. Guests who book and check in at the hotel this month stand a chance of winning a night stay in a lux suite.
General Manager of Meropa and Entertainment World, Peter Guthrie reportedly told attendees at a birthday cake cutting ceremony on Sunday: “We are excited to celebrated Meropa Hotel’s second birthday as it marks another year of business success but more importantly, another year of delivering exceptional hospitality and service to our guests. Although still young, Meropa Hotel has built a solid reputation for excellence and will continue to deliver on its promise to provide an exceptional experience to guests.”
The exquisite Moroccan styled hotel first opened its doors on 1 August 2017, less than a year after the announcement by Sun International and Domba Empowerment Corporation (Pty) Ltd that plans for expansion were underway.
Sun International’s R76-million investment in the hotel formed part of the company’s commitment to the City of Polokwane and the Limpopo Gambling Board. The development has through job creation and tourism provided economic stimulus for the region. Approximately 475 jobs were created directly and indirectly through the development, with the majority of labour sourced locally.
Meropa Hotel flows seamlessly into the casino complex and reflects the discerning Moroccan styled, architecture and aesthetics that make the complex distinctly Sun Meropa. The hotel boasts 60 immaculate rooms with a Moroccan theme, including four suites and two luxury suites. Catering for business and leisure travellers the hotel features all amenities and the high quality of service that Sun International’s guests are accustomed to. Other facilities available at the hotel include a sparkling pool, Wi-Fi, and the Kasbah restaurant.
Meropa, which celebrated its 17th anniversary in March this year, is known as a vibrant entertainment hub at the heart of Polokwane, offering an array of entertainment and experiences for young and old. The complex features the upmarket Harvest Grill & Wine restaurant, the contemporary Jembe at Meropa which hosts regular live entertainment, and a well-equipped and versatile conference centre.
With the largest, contemporary casino floor in Polokwane, a selection of dining and entertainment options and the beautiful hotel, Meropa is a premier leisure, business and conferencing destination in the region.
