Four arrested, weapons recovered during stop-and-search operation at Matalala

Police suspect the culprits were planning to commit crimes in the area

POLOKWANE – The police made several arrests during a stop-and-search operation on the N11 and R567 roads in the early hours of this morning.

Police stopped a Toyota Etios, and discovered that is had been reported stolen in Wierdabrug in Gauteng.

The officers searched the vehicle and one rifle, three rounds of ammunition, axes, a panga and knives were recovered, said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Four men were arrested and the origin of the recovered items will be determined by ongoing investigations.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt General Nneke Ledwaba applauded the police for their endeavour in continuously working around the clock to apprehend criminals in the province.
