[UPDATE] Polokwane will no longer be affected by planned power outage this weekend

The power outage was planned for the replacement of conductors and poles at the Ebenezer Scheme

POLOKWANE – Residents should note that water supply to the city will no longer be affected by a planned outage by Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality on Saturday, 17 August 2019.

However, Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says the replacement of an asbestos pipe in Seshego will go on as planned for this evening from 18h00 with the Seshego Circle Centre and Mohlakaneng area to experience reduced pressure.


POLOKWANE – Residents can expect dry taps over the weekend as the Ebenezer Scheme will not be pumping water to Polokwane on Saturday, 17 August.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says they have received notice from Lepelle Northern Water, of a planned power outage from 08:00 to 16:00 on Saturday, 17 August 2019.

This, he says, is due to conductor and pole replacement by the Tzaneen Local Municipality.

“The Scheme will not be pumping water to Polokwane and that will affect all areas of supply including the city, Seshego, Mankweng, Segwashi and Mentz,” he said.

In addition to the planned shutdown, replacement of an asbestos pipe around the Seshego Circle Mall will also affect water supply in the vicinity of the Mall and the  Mohlakaneng area.

Selela says work will begin at 18:00 this evening, 14 August.

“Water supply from both operations will be restored once the work is done.The municipality will provide regular updates in terms of any developments and is urging all residents to use water sparingly,” his statement concluded.
